Printing technique:
Risography is a unique technique combining screen printing (serigraphy) and photocopying elements. It was originally developed in Japan in the 1980s as a cost-effective method for producing high-volume prints, but it has since gained popularity in the art and design world for its distinctive aesthetic. Indeed, this technique is widely used for creating zines, posters, art prints, and limited edition books, offering a distinctive, textured aesthetic that stands out from standard digital printing.

The artist:
Cara Trancada is a Portuguese illustrator, tattoo artist, and graphic designer based in Lisbon. Her work is known for its vibrant and expressive style, often focusing on themes like body positivity, feminism, and the celebration of diverse human relationships. Further, she uses various mediums, including screen printing and digital design, and has collaborated on projects such as feminist sock designs and limited-edition prints. Her art frequently challenges societal norms about body and sexuality, advocating for inclusivity and self-expression. Cara Trancada’s designs have been featured in various products, including tote bags, apparel, and risograph prints​.
