OUT OF KIOSK touches down at Piena Livraria

The airplane trolley makes its first stop this weekend, and it's landing somewhere fitting: Piena Livraria, the Italian bookshop tucked near Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, at Rua Luciano Cordeiro 2C.
For two days, OUT OF KIOSK — the travelling art and publishing project by IT'S FFFRESH — will park its trolley inside Piena's two-floor space, right alongside the shelves of Italian books, the café counter and the usual hum of people reading, working and drinking coffee. Inside the trolley: a curated selection of zines, posters, prints and artist books, ready to be pulled out, flipped through and taken home.
Why Piena?
Piena already does a version of what OUT OF KIOSK is trying to do — mix books, coffee and community into one room where people linger longer than they planned to. It's hosted poetry readings, language tandems and author events since moving into its current space, so a trolley full of zines rolling in for the weekend isn't much of a stretch. It just adds another kind of printed matter to the mix, and a slightly stranger piece of furniture to build an afternoon around.

This is the first time the trolley leaves IT'S FFFRESH's usual space to land somewhere new, and Piena is the first of what's meant to be many stops around Lisbon. If it goes the way it's supposed to, you'll walk in for a coffee and walk out having met an artist, bought a zine, or at least spent longer with a stranger's printed work than you meant to.
